Frequently Asked Questions and Answers

1. How does the MYCO know when to advance the filter paper?
When the filter media is plugged, liquid will begin to pool in the sump. Once the liquid makes contact with the level probe, the conveyor turns on for a fraction of a second indexing in clean filter media.

2. Does the MYCO need alot of maintenance?
No. Once the unit is plumbed, plugged in and the filter media is in place the MYCO will take care of itself. Periodically the filter media will need to be cut off and disposed.

3. There are grease-nipples on the bearing. Does the MYCO need to be greased often?
No. The bearings are pre-greased by the manufacturer and will not need to be greased for 1 to 2 years.

4. How fine of a mesh is the filter media?
The filter media paper commonly used is 0.8 ounce or 28 micron. There are other papers available - as coarse as 200 microns or as fine as 7 microns.

5. What size of filter do I need?
It depends on the output capacity of your pump and how far and/or high you are pumping your liquid. It is best to contact your pump supplier and request a pump-curve, or provide your pump make and model number to your Clearstream sales representative.

6. Does the MYCO system work?
Yes. There is nothing available on the market which is as unique or as effective as the MYCO filtration system.

7. Can the MYCO filter be applied to other industries?
Originally the MYCO filter was designed for recycling flood floor water for greenhouse use, but it became obvious that it could be applied to many other industries. The MYCO filter has now been used in:
  • mining
  • parts washing chemicals
  • greenhouses
  • machine tool coolants
  • spray booth effluent
  • phosphating solutions
  • backwash from self-cleaning filters
  • cooling tower fluids
  • quencing oils
  • rolling oils
  • scrubbers

8. Does the MYCO use a lot of filter media?
No. The MYCO is very conservative with its filter media usage. When the media is advanced, only 4 to 6 inches of paper is discharged from the unit. Some customers get as much as 9 months use from a 500 yard roll.
